Passion for yaoi manga

avatar-img-yna2.jpgI spend a lot of my free time on the internet reading yaoi manga.  The amount of translated manga titles that are generated by  scanlation groups is amazing.  Occasionally I find  licensed yaoi titles that I want to have available for purchase, but for me, the publishers are not as consistent or reliable as the scanlators.   So I would like to take this opportunity to thank the scanlation groups for their wonderful and hard work!  I deeply appreciate what they do, making it possible for me to enjoy my passion for yaoi manga.  ❤

This blog is a journal where I list some of my favorite yaoi manga titles.  I have chosen to categorize my posts by my favorite mangakas.  Whenever possible, I will provide a link  to where I found the  manga titles in case anyone that visits my blog would also like to read some of my favorites.  🙂

homepage update:  30 September 2016

Hana.wa.Saku.kaDigital and printed copies of yaoi manga in english have become increasingly easier to aquire. In light of this, whenever possible, links that accompany  summaries will lead to where the titles are available for purchase.

In other words, as yaoi manga grows more popular, I will try to steer attention towards english publishers along with the scanlation groups. Hopefully publishing and availability will keep improving, and the love of yaoi will keep growing. ❤

    • What a nice surprise to find after my vacation! Thank you for the nomination! It gives such a great feeling to know others like my blog. This further enhances that. Again, thank you!

      • Hana I wondered if you just didn’t want to reply! There’s details in the link for what you need to do next. And you’re welcome! I think your recommendations all turn out well but that might just be my tastes.

  1. “…but for me, the publishers are not as consistent or reliable as the scanlators.”

Can you elaborate on this a bit? Do you mean by their translations, output, legalities (cause companies have to worry about that), etc?

    • This is long….
First my thoughts on publishers 🙂 Licensing yaoi manga seems to be complex, and I do think English publishers do their best to cooperate and comply with Japanese publishing companies, and offer us the titles they are allowed to. Currently I think they are being allowed to offer quite a few good titles. And it feels like the licensing process is evolving and becoming more proactive. Following a series with a publisher is becoming more reliable. It is frustrating to search high and low for volume you are missing, then finally find a copy, but have to pay through the nose for it. Or, when you can’t find a title because there were only so many printed, and/or the publisher is defunct. I hope this becomes a thing of the past for yaoi manga.

Now, scanlations. ❤ I enjoy reading as many titles as I can from my favorite mangakas. I would not be able to do this without scanlations. Japanese publishers aren't promoting these artist overseas as much as they deserve to be. I think Libre is stepping up and bringing them more to the forefront. (And they are cracking whips all over the place at scanlation groups). But the speed and capacity of scanlations is far from being surpassed. For example…I am anxiously waiting to buy 'Hana wa Saku ka' from DMI when it finally comes out in print October of this year (fingers crossed). I've been obviously downloading it already, and wonder to myself, why do the publishers (on both sides) need to take so long with this, especially for a work that is so popular. They are not supporting the mangaka that way. I don't want to end up having to buy the German version, but I'll do it if I have to!

And as far as translations go, both scanlation groups and publishers do fine work by me. I appreciate the cultural nuances that are left in the scanlations, and can appreciate the simple clarity of the licensed publications. Most important is that yaoi manga is reaching the english speaking fans. 😉

  2. I just wanted to drop a line and thank you for all the reviews and links you provide. I love reading Yaoi Mange, but I tend to be dependent on people like you to find really good Yaoi Manga! So…thank you so much!!

    • You’re very welcome! Thank you for your kind words. 🙂 I am happy that you enjoy my posts. Being able to share my thoughts on the yaoi manga I have read makes it even more enjoyable.
